It seems the latest Government initiative to help motivate people to lose weight may not be such a bad idea according to some experts. Authorities feel that setting up local ‘Dance Working Groups’ is the perfect answer to the increasing obesity rates hitting the UK. According to Health Secretary Alan Johnson, more people should follow John Sergeant’s lead, who was part of the BBC’s recent Stricly Come Dancing series. John Sergeant quit the show after being made favorite to win it, his dancing was so bad that he actually adhered himself more to the British public. However, Sargeant, claims he lost over 2 stone while competiting in the competition.

Seemingly, for those that are interested, a sedate waltz burns around 300 calories an hour, while an upbeat salsa can move as many as 700 calories in 60 minutes. Dancing also releases a lot of natural endorphins - happy hormones - so those smiles you see on the Strictly Come Dancing competitors aren’t fake after all.
Perhaps, more people will start shopping for evening gowns and dapper suits as they head to the dancing halls instead of the nearest gym. There is also the social aspect to consider as well with dancing as your reliant on a partner plus it appeals right across the ages. If your part of a club, be that a dancing club, which gets you out of the house more often, makes you feel good about yourself and most importantly helps reduce weight loss then we, at the weight loss shop, think that’s all that matters at the end of the day.
