1 : Eat from a smaller plate - Simple advice we know but it does help, “people eat with their eyes”, and if you can get your servings of food under control then your well on your way to reducing your weight and achieving your ultimate goal.
2. Don’t eat after 8 pm - We like to call this our shut-down period, its that time in the evening where you put your feet-up and watch TV, read a book or browse the internet…However, if you have NOT eaten your daily quota then eating after 8pm is perfectly fine.
3. If you drink coffee then stop - drinking coffee dehydrates the body and with some people can increase food cravings.
4. Drink water to help quell that hungry feeling - Drinking water is not only vital to your organs and cells, but helps keep your calorie count down.
5. Snack out on fruit - Fruit contains nutrients which are good for our body in general and also helps in weight loss programs by helping the body to burn fat faster.
6. Keep a list of your daily food intake - quite vital if you are on a calorie controlled diet, this way you can tally up your daily calories easier and also highlight if you need to eat more or less to fit in with your weight loss plan.
7. Don’t skip meals - Dieting is about responsible eating and skipping meals will only lead to you being more hungry and eventually you’ll crash and binge out on food.
8. Bin those sugary drinks - probably the most simple yet effective rule of a weight loss plan. Sugar beverages have no nutritional value whatsoever and add weight gain.
9. Do more excercise - Being physicaly active doesn’t mean you have to sign up with a Gym. Excercise can mean walking more, taking the stairs instead of the lift, - try and aim for half an hour per day, 5 days a week if you can - remember, moderate excercise can help build stamina and burn excess body fat.
10. Set mini-goals and reward yourself when you reach these - The can be small goals such as managing to move down a belt buckle hole or even managing to put your socks on without feeling you have just been in a wrestling match - reward yourself if you achieve these mini goals … rewards, can be anything - except food related - buy yourself that latest DVD or CD track you’ve been eyeing, a new bag or nice shoes … you deserve it!
